Taking a Different Path

ˈwändərˌləst/
noun
  1. a strong desire to travel.

  2. wan·der·lust·ing: acting on that desire

A few years ago, I started a blog that focused on some workouts I was doing and recipes that I liked. I didn't have many followers and really just started it to keep myself accountable for my health. Then life took a crazy turn when my mother-in-law became very sick (she's fully recovered and in remission now, PTL!), so this blog was put on hold for a little while. I've been told I am a good writer, and I really enjoy putting words together, so recently I've been thinking about what I really enjoy, what my passions are, and how I can share those with others. There are tons of exercise blogs, fashion blogs, and food blogs out there, but I want to do something a little different that also includes all of those things.

I've always loved the outdoors. Growing up, my family went on camping trips regularly, and I spent the majority of my childhood outside & exploring. Over the past few years, I've become more adventurous (thanks to my adreneline-junky husband), and we've worked together to plan various adventures together starting in Austin, TX and ending up in San Diego, CA over two years ago. We did copious amounts of research for a three week road trip last fall, and I enjoyed every second of planning it: purchasing gear, looking up the best campsites, yelp-ing each town for the best food and sights, researching hiking trails, packing, and planning every mile to make the most of this once in a lifetime trip. Since our trip, numerous people have asked us about our adventures. I posted some pictures to social media, with short captions of our experiences, but I really want to supply a more in depth look into every bit of our trip from start to finish, from the initial idea of this trip all the way to unpacking and allllll the laundry.

So why not do it on a blog?! This blog won't just focus on our fall PNW road trip, but also other small weekend trips we've taken,  including what gear we use, exercises we did to prepare, clothes we wear, food we eat, and trails we hike. I'll even talk about where we would go with our dogs and where it would probably be best to leave them with the sitter. Maybe we will even plan a future trip right here on the blog. My husband has also done a few multi-day (bros only) hikes that I plan to interview him about - The San Juan National Forest in Colorado and part of the Appalachian Trial.

Bare with me as I get reacquainted with this whole blogging thing, and hopefully my writing and the information will get better as I go! Also PLEASE feel free to comment with suggestions, questions, love, and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. & you can follow me on instagram too @_wanderlust.ing_

Check back in a few days with my first post about planning our three week Pacific Northwest road trip!
